Democrats finally find the guts to force the truth

"They have repeatedly chosen to protect the Republican administration rather than get to the bottom of what happened and why," Democratic leader Harry Reid said on Tuesday.

After years of embarrassing timidity and inept leadership, the Democrats in the Senate have finally gotten the guts to try to force the Republican-controlled Senate to undertake a full and legitimate investigation into the manipulation of intelligence by the Bush Administration to justify its rush to war. By forcing an unusual closed session of the Senate, it appears that at least some level of investigation may now happen. While the Republican leadership fumes over the closed session, clearly the tactic worked. They were ultimately forced to impanel a bi-partisan group of Senators to monitor the work of the Senate Intelligence Committee and ensure that the long delayed investigation moves forward. If the Democrats continue to have the strength and conviction to push this issue and refuse to back down, the truth may finally be exposed.
