Pitching Bloggers
January 03, 2006

Now that blogs have become a credible and important media outlet...in some cases, even more important than traditional media...it's important to understand that these new writers (and sometime journalists) don't want to be pitched with canned, corporate speak – or sometimes pitched at all. Indiscriminately pitching to every blogger who has an interest in a specific area is a prescription for disaster. Pitching them requires you to find something that matters to them, is relevant to their target readers, and speaks in their unique voice in a way that begins to create a dialogue...otherwise you may suffer the same fate as this publicist for KFC.
