What Was She Thinking?
January 19, 2006

To paraphrase Daddy Warbucks, "You don't have to be nice to people on the way up if you don't plan on seeing them on the way down."

After 24 hours of a growing public relations nightmare, it looks like Kelly Clarkson has seen the light...but not until after she created ill will with American Idol and the fans that made her famous. By not allowing American Idol (the show that plucked her from obscurity and made her a star) to use her music, her actions risked alienating the millions of fans who are responsible for making her what she is today...not to mention they are the ones who purchase her music. It's good to see that she came to her senses without causing any additional damage. Someone close to her might want to give her some advice about fleeting fame...and how quickly arrogance and bad judgment can turn into a public relations disaster that can permanently damage careers, especially those of celebrities.
