The Dubai Ports Takeover: The Incompetence of Bush Accelerates
March 12, 2006

While there are legitimate arguments on both sides of the debate of the Dubai ports takeover debacle, one thing can not be debated...this has been an unmitigated disaster for the United States...a lose-lose proposition of significant proportion. Whether it is arrogance or total incompetence...or most likely, both...the handling of this affair by President Bush (or should I say, President Cheney) and his gang has once again caused significant harm to the United States at home and throughout the world. Their continuing incompetence is truly breathtaking, extraordinarily dangerous...and almost without peer in U.S. history.

In Saturday's New York Times, Maureen Dowd has a terrific column examining the issue of port security...in her column, she ends with a quote from a recent column from Michael Hirsh of Newsweek that sums up the current state of affairs: "How then did we arrive at this day, with anti-American Islamist governments rising in the Mideast, bin Laden sneering at us, Qaeda lieutenants escaping from prison, Iran brazenly enriching uranium, and America as hated and mistrusted as it has ever been? The answer, in a word, is incompetence."
