At the beginning of the Valerie Plame scandal, President Bush declared that he would fire anyone caught leaking classified information...now, we learn that Bush was, in fact, the person who authorized the leaks...and knowingly leaked questionable information at best...so, with this new disclosure, would be it fair to assume that the President will soon be firing himself? If not, can we hope that the Republican Congress will finally act with responsibility and step into this mess in a legitimate and meaningful way? Unfortunately, the answer to both of these questions is a resounding "no." While the American people seem to be growing tired of this Administration’s dishonesty (recent polls show the President’s approval rating at an all time low…and Cheney’s even lower) can we afford three more years of unchecked incompetence and corruption?

I think that Bush firing himself is probably the best idea I've heard yet as to how to fix this mess he's gotten this whole country into. There comes a time when a responsible adult has to throw up his hands and say, "I tried, it didn't work, and now it's time to see if someone else can do it better." But then, that's an interesting concept for the presidential administration--personal responsibility. No, we probably won't see Bush saying he did anything wrong, because it's easier to make pretty speeches about accountability than to actually practice it. But like I tell my 7-year-old daughter when she does something wrong, I don't want to hear who is to blame. I want to know what she is going to do to repare the damage. So, fearful leader, how are you going to fix the country you broke? 280 million people want to know.
